Chesapeake Area Alaskan Malamute Protection (CHAAMP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue organization dedicated to helping our favorite breed, Malamutes. CHAAMP is an affiliate of the national rescue organization, the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League. CHAAMP is the only AMAL rescue group serving Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC. Our volunteers have been rescuing Malamutes in our area since the early 1990's.
In 2004, we rescued 27 Malamutes from shelters, Mals found roaming, and Mals abandoned or given up by their owners. In 2003, we saved 34 Mals. In 2002, we saved 25.
In addition to rescuing Mals and finding them suitable homes, we offer advice, training suggestions, and support to Malamute owners who want to keep their dogs but need help.
