About
My goal is to teach people about sharks - the realities, not the media representation. Their beauty, history, biology, and their importance to marine ecosystems. I want to educate the world about the overfishing crisis and what it has done to shark populations worldwide.
To put it simply, no sharks = unhealthy oceans = no life as we know it.
My name is Amanda and I am a marine scientist, conservationist, photographer, and cinematographer. I've always been a photographer, ever since I held my first disposable camera as a kid, but underwater photography is still new to me. I've also always been a shark fanatic but I was terrified of them until two years ago when that fear suddenly switched off as if it were never there.
I had a life crisis at only 34 years old in summer of 2021 when I realized I'd wasted so many years of my life in a deep depression from my mom passing away. With loads of help from my (soul/chosen) sister, husband, dad, and others, I found my calling in shark conservation and research. I have been in a Master's program at Unity College online for two years now and I have been gaining as much underwater photography and cinematography experience as possible.
I speak through my art. It gives me life and purpose, and I hope to share my experiences and emotions with the world with hopes that it will spread awareness about sharks and why we need to protect them.
