Salty Said Sweetly was born out of a frustration that most of the lettering and calligraphy out there tends to sugarcoat real life experience. Kris McDermott has always been interested in laughing through some of life's weirder and less charming experiences. One day, frustrated by the saccharine selection in the greeting card aisle as she shopped for a friend, Kris crafted her first product-- a card for a friend going through an extremely difficult pregnancy reading, "I'm sorry that pregnancy is a seemingly endless series of waking nightmares." And Salty Said Sweetly was born. A marketing executive by day (and by night, let's be real), Kris McDermott is an illustrator and lettering fanatic living in Chicago.
