An estimated 55,000 people die from rabies each year, yet prevention is simple. RFW supports dog vaccination programs in the Philippines. With effective education, dog vaccination and control, we could eliminate canine-rabies, just as health authorities did in the USA more than 50 years ago. We have a lot of wildlife rabies here in the US. By creating free, downloadable resources, we hope to help people: Keep pets vaccinated; Recognize 'what counts' as a rabies exposure and know what to do; Stay away from strays; Refrain from handling wild animals; Encourage children to tell an adult straight away about possible rabies exposure; Communicate health concerns to a doctor or health professional knowledgeable about rabies.
