Prairie Dog Creek Press

Truth be told, there is no press at Prairie Dog Creek Press. And, I'm afraid, there's also no creek at Prairie Dog Creek. At least none that I ever saw. Prairie Dog Creek itself does indeed exist though - up in the Northwest corner of Kansas, where I grew up. What I saw of the Creek was probably better described as a gulch, or even more accurately a gully. But it was the closest thing we had to natural water and I spent lots of time kicking around in the fine, sandy dirt that filled the gully. Unlike the name of my shop though, the designs are real and authentic - and totally made by me. I find myself drawn to imagery that is natural and (mostly) un-fancied up. Images that reflect the beauty inherent and often over-looked in our everyday lives and surroundings. If you see something dramatic in my work it's because it was truly dramatic in real life. And this is not only because I'm not very good at retouching. It's because I believe reality is more meaningful than facade (and much more beautiful). During many years as a graphic designer and art director I put a lot of ideas on the shelf in pursuit of ones that would work hard for clients. Now that I can design (and paint, and photograph) for myself -- I'm bringing some of my own ideas to life. I hope you see fit to bring them to your life, and the lives of those you love.
