Welcome and thank you for visiting! My name is Liz Wang and I live and work in New York City, where I discover endless inspiration for my art. My work is all about color – bright, strong, bold color! I create vibrant, colorful collages using hand-painted, recycled and origami paper that convey bursts of color and energy. When I first moved to New York City, I was horrified by the dirt, pollution, and social inequalities and overwhelmed by the loneliness of trying to discover my place in this bustling city. As I adjusted to the pace and scale of New York City, I slowly began to observe a hidden beauty beneath the grit and grime – the colors of skyscrapers reflecting the sunset, the changing seasons in Central Park and the colorful blur of pedestrians on Broadway. Inspired by these visions, I began creating colorful collages in an attempt to capture the beauty, energy and color of the city. This process transformed my outlook of New York City and it is my goal that viewers will walk away from my work with a fresh perspective and appreciation of the color and creative energy that surround them.
