When I was young, I was torn between art and writing. Eventually, I chose writing - at least until the day came when I wanted to have illustrations in my then-upcoming poetry book. On a budget, I decided to dust off my old art skills and see what I could come up with. I enjoyed the process and the product so much that I'm continuing to pursue art in addition to writing.
