When I had my first son, my Dad was sure that he did not want to be called Pop or anything that sounded like that (I don't know why!), but finally decided, the day before my son was born that he wanted to be called "Granddad" because it sounded the most dignified. A few days after my son was born, it had already been lengthened to "Granddaddy". :-)
