I worked in the automotive industry as a Technical Illustration Engineer for many years but was always frustrated by the limits imposed on the use of colour and the restraints placed on artistic freedom.​ When I first discovered Fluid Art it felt like what I can only describe as a 'renaissance moment' as the rules, guidelines and restrictions that I had always abided by no longer seemed to apply. As I researched deeper into the world of modern pigments and dyes I could hardly believe the number of new colours that have been created. When I started combining, pouring and agitating modern and traditional colours on canvas, I was truly astonished by the details and textures that were being created. The hues, tints and blends that were being produced was something I could never possibly have imagined and certainly never achieved using paint brushes.
