Midnight Magic Submarine Santa Ornament

This sweet Santa ornament is an excellent keepsake ornament for the submariner or submarine spouse in your life. Each year, using watercolor on French paper, I paint a new Submarine Santa for my own special sailor and make it available for others in the community. This year’s design took over 70 working hours to complete. Each of my art pieces is hand painted on 300# cold press paper using traditional watercolor paint to give them a soft, dreamy, old world, illustrated feel. When I painted this piece, I imagined a midnight moonlight arctic scene. A submarine is pushed through the ice, perhaps on an Icex exercise, full of sailors missing home, that’s suddenly discovered by Santa in his sleigh on a magical moonlit night.
