George Washington crossed the perilous Delaware River on Christmas Night, 1776, leading to a great victory at the Battle of Trenton. Buoyed by his success, Washington decided to cross other things, including the I-90 and 490 interchange just outside Cleveland. While a bold move, it was a tactical miscalculation that prolonged the war for two years as the general made his way back to the colonies from northern Ohio.
