Zen with Ensō Circle #2 Kitchen Towel
The large Kanji symbol in this artwork is the word Zen. Zen is a school of Mahayana Buddhism developed in China during the 6th century as Chán. Below that is an Ensō circle, a sacred symbol in the Zen school of Buddhism and is one of the most common subjects of Japanese calligraphy. The Enso itself is a universal symbol of wholeness and completion, and the cyclical nature of existence, as well as a visual manifestation of the Heart Sutra, "Form is void and void is form." I created this Kanji Zen image with both a solid white background for high contrast and also a beige textures background for a subtler look.

I was actually surprised by the quality. The material feels like it can handle the wash and the print seems to be set deep in the fibers. BUT I have not washed it yet. The printing was accurate and looks like it can handle washing.

Wow, I thought the fabric might have been hard and scratchy, but it's super soft, brilliant idea to have in a MCM kitchen! Colours are true to their photos on Zazzle, they are perfect!
