Yawning Man (Self-Portrait) (by Joseph Ducreux) Tile
This design features an artwork by the French painter Joseph Ducreux (1735–1802). It is a self-portrait of the artist in the middle of a large yawn. It has become famous in recent years, as an internet meme. The original painting was completed in 1783. Ducreux was a portrait painter to the King and Queen of France, but he was very interested in human behaviour and wanted to capture some unusual poses in his own work. This may be one of the very few artworks of the period that so clearly shows a man yawning.
