The beautiful Karaweik Palace is featured on this Yangon postcard. Built in 1974, Karaweik is not actually a historical palace, but a restaurant and home to a traditional Burmese cultural show. The venue takes its name because it was fashioned after the majestic royal barge that the monarchy of Burma once used to travel up and down the Irawaddy River. This popular Myanmar tourist destination floats in Kandawgyi Lake in the Rangoon city centre.
