The crest of the Imperial Family in Japan (Gomonsho): After the Northern and Southern Courts period, as the family crest was created and developed, the Emperor's pattern was given to the officers and men who were successful, and the samurai began to desire it as a symbol of the samurai family. At first, however, it was only allowed to wear Goi (an imperial garment) of Hakuryo instead of Kamon (family crest), but Kiku-mon was allowed to be used by Ashikaga, Oda and Toyotomi clans, and in addition, many Kiku-mon were abused without permission. Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI disliked this, and banned Kiku-mon and Kiku-mon, which were official heraldry, twice in 1581 and 1595. In the Edo period, daimyo (Japanese feudal lord), shrines, and temples pretended to use them to enhance their authority, and even used the family crest of actors and the trademark of machiya (merchant houses). This was officially prohibited by the edict of Daijokan in 1868 when the Restoration of Imperial Rule was completed. In the following year, the type of Kikuka-mon of the Imperial Family was regulated, and later 'Kozoku Kamon Hinagata' (Imperial family crest) was illustrated. However, it is necessary to wait until the 'Imperial Household Regulations' in 1920 that the crest itself is strictly established as a figure. In this section, the crest of each Imperial family including the Emperor is defined, and its position and size are stylized as figures. After that, the Kikukamon was strictly preserved as the crest of the Imperial Family throughout the prewar and wartime periods, but after the defeat in the war, the old system collapsed, and in 1947, the 'Imperial Household Regulations' was abolished. Currently, no legal ban has been issued ("Nihon Sei Shi Monsho Soran")
