Xanthorrhoea The Xanthorrhoeaceae family is commonly called a grass tree. It grows throughout Australia with about 15 named species. Its name come from Xanthorrhoea; from Greek xanthos, yellow and rheo, to flow, a reference to the resin that is obtained from these plants. Xanthorrhoea grow very slowly, a five-metre tall member of one of the fastest growing Xanthorrhoea could be about 200 years old.
