This gun mount and rotation track for heavy artillery was built during WWII to defend Unalaska Island from invasion during the campaign of the Aleutians. The small huts provided shelter for troops and ammunition. There are many such sites in key positions all over the island. This photo was taken at Summer's Bay. The location is just north of the sandy beach at the top of the first rise in the road.
