Vintage Woodpecker Floral Tapestry William Morris Tote Bag

Detail of Woodpecker tapestry designed by William Morris. (The complete tapestry has a border and inscription.) This design was inspired by a tale from the Roman poet Ovid’s Metamorphoses. A sorceress turns King Picus into a woodpecker when he refuses to become her lover. The texts (from Morris’s poetry) lament that ‘I once a king and chief now am the tree bark’s thief’ ‘ever twixt trunk and leaf chasing the prey’. Cool bag as a gift!

Beautiful quality tote bag in a heavy coated canvas. Shoulder strap is perfect length. Graphics are absolutely beautiful. The printing was great. The pink and black were perfect but the green didn't print as rich in color.

INCREDIBLE! These bags are beautifully made with a thick canvas fabric, and a shoulder strap that hangs perfectly. This is the smaller of the two sizes that I ordered. So Impressed. The printing is immaculate. The colors are just as deep and rich as the online image display. These are excellent quality printing.
