Woodland Animals Selection Wrapping Paper Sheet

This design features three high-quality images of artwork containing animals that live in forests and woodlands. The first artwork is by the German artist Hans Hoffmann (1530–1591/92), who was a leading figure of the Northern Renaissance, and he was heavily influenced by his predecessor, Albrecht Dürer; the painting is a nature study, showing a beautiful brown hare surrounded by lush woodland. The animal is nibbling on a leaf pulled from a stalk of a plant known as Lady's Mantle; the scene is not dark, as might be expected for a forest, but is illuminated to show the attractive flora and fauna in great detail. The second artwork is by the 16th-century German artist Hans Hoffmann (1530–1591/2), and it shows an adorable red squirrel chomping on a nut or piece of fruit that is grasped between its cute little hands. The third artwork is by the American artist William Holbrook Beard (1824–1900), known for his satirical paintings of animals performing human-like activities, and it shows a swaggering fox, which is wearing an elegant royal robe, intimidating and bullying a rabbit; foxes are often seen as sly and crafty creatures, perhaps because they have a brutal need to hunt and kill in order to survive; the other animals are wearing business suits and they watch the scene with menace in their eyes.
