This early 20th century British History photo features women at work in a munitions production unit - the National Fillings Factory - at Chilwell, in Nottinghamshire, England, wherein they are handling rows after rows of shells within a warehouse. The First World War created a large number of vacancies in England courtesy of the men having departed to fight the war, especially the munitions factories, and these were eventually filled by women.
