About This Design

WMAP Microwave Anisotropy Probe Universe Map Tile

Imagine a picture of the universe right after the Big Bang! The Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe, or WMAP, captured tiny temperature variations in leftover cosmic microwave radiation. These splotches are like ripples in the early universe, giving clues to the universe's age, composition, and even the existence of mysterious dark matter. It's basically a baby picture of our cosmos, all grown up now!
