This artwork is inspired by the beloved children's classic: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz books. Even though Dorothy's magic slippers are silver in the book, they were designed to be red in the Technicolor movie to show up more vividly against the yellow brick road and are one of the most iconic items. In this unique piece of art, we celebrate the original silver shoes as portrayed in the books. In The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Dorothy’s Silver Shoes play a significant role. These enchanted shoes were originally worn by the Wicked Witch of the East. However, when Dorothy’s farmhouse lands on the Wicked Witch and inadvertently kills her, the Good Witch of the North explains that the shoes now belong to Dorothy. Throughout her journey in the Land of Oz, Dorothy wears these magical shoes and at the end of the book, she clicks them three times to her back home.
