This is the winter view of St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador from the harbour. The brightly coloured Victorian row houses are called "Jellybean Houses" or "Jelly Bean Row". Some people say the bright colours were used to counteract the foggy grey weather which is common in St. John's. Some believe that the houses used to be painted with the leftover paint from the fishing boats. Whatever the reason, these "jellybeans" make the city more colourful and unique, and they are something you can't miss if you are visiting St. John's.
