Drawing from a series of portraits of world-famous racers and their sports and racing cars. Drawn in pencil on paper. Willem Edouard Numa Ghislain "Willy" Mairesse, October 1, 1928 - September 2, 1969, was a Belgian car racer. Mairesse was also called Wild Willy. He was an unusual race driver for today. He raced on asphalt and gravel, street races and rallies. He was at home in the sports car as he was at Monopostos. His career was marked by countless major accidents and fatal collisions. Rainer Schlegelmilch: "His launches were always like a break into hell." In the duel he was feared as a teammate in the sports car, however, he was always welcome by his dedication to long-lost races.
