William Morris Vintage Floral Birds Coaster

The design on this product was inspired by Birds, a William Morris floral wallpaper design dating back to 1878. The pattern was originally designed for the drawing room at Kelmscott House, the London home of Morris. William Morris (1834-1896) was an iconic English textile designer who lived during the Victorian period. He was a significant contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. Much of his work can be found in art galleries and museums and his designs are still in production. Although best known in his lifetime as a poet, Morris is recognized as one of the most significant cultural figures of Victorian Britain.
