White Water Lily Skateboard

Water Lily is a general name for a number of types of plants with floating pads and flowers. I believe this white form is Nymphaea alba – not positive as it could be the “Fragrant Water Lily”. These pretty and popular plants have large, round leaves and white to pink blossoms that open in the morning and close in late afternoon. A flower can last for about three days. The plants provide excellent habitat for fish and other aquatic life until the lilies begin to choke an area and lower the oxygen content of the water. It is tough to get rid of them once established; many people just keep cutting the foliage for two or three years until the plants finally give up the ghost.
