Frederic Remington was an American painter and writer known for art depicting the cowboys, soldiers and Native Americans of the Old West. His love of the rough heroic cowboys and soldiers took him west as a journalist/illustrator and he producing over 3000 paintings and drawings. This painting is called “Indian Scouts Watching Custer's Advance” and depicts two Indian braves scouting Custer's advance over a prairie ridge while their comrades wait with the horses in the background.
