Water Resources III - Embudo Stream Gauge Coffee Mug

USGS initiated a National Streamgaging Program in 1888 with training and gauge installation on the Rio Grande River near Embudo, New Mexico. The initiative was part of the Irrigation Surveys under Director John Wesley Powell (adapted in part from Rabbitt, MC, 1989, USGS Circular 1055). Circular and other history accessible at http://water.usgs.gov/history.htm and http://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/c1050/first.htm The USGS operates and maintains approximately 7,500 streamgages. These streamgages provide long-term, accurate, and unbiased information about streamflow to meet the diverse needs of the US populace.
