Washington Irving Poster

Washington Irving, born on April 3, 1783, in New York City, was an American author, essayist, and diplomat who became one of the first internationally acclaimed literary figures from the United States. Irving began his career as a law student but soon found his true passion lay in writing and storytelling. His first significant success came with the publication of "A History of New York" under the pseudonym Dietrich Knickerbocker in 1809. This satirical work, imbued with humor and a love for Dutch American culture, established Irving as a distinctive literary voice. In 1815, Irving traveled to England, where he continued to build his literary reputation. His most enduring work, "The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent.," was published in installments between 1819 and 1820. This collection included the iconic short stories "Rip Van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," both of which contributed significantly to American folklore. The character of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman became cultural touchstones, solidifying Irving's status as a master storyteller. Washington Irving's literary success extended to his diplomatic career when he served as the U.S. Minister to Spain from 1842 to 1846. His time in Spain inspired works like "The Alhambra," a collection of essays and stories. Upon returning to the United States, Irving continued to write and remained an influential figure in American literature. He passed away on November 28, 1859, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the first American authors to gain international acclaim and contributing to the development of a distinct American literary identity.

My Bible verse postcard, turned out excellent. I love it and have it already framed. It was so reasonably priced for something done so well. Thank you to Zazzle and the artist! I thought it looked exactly like what I ordered. Perfect.

Poster is printed clearly, good quality . Inclusive of many prints . The shipping was the problem. Box was flimsy and item got bent.. only suggestion would have been to put in a canister or mark fragile. Printing was exactly as shown
