Vintage William Morris Peacock and Dragon Tapestry
Peacock and Dragon, the beautiful image embellishing this product, was designed for textile in 1878 by William Morris (1834-1896). The "Peacock and Dragon" pattern was among the earliest produced by Morris for the larger loom. It demonstrates his love of linking natural forms of animals and plants, based on his own close observation of nature. Morris first used this pattern for the curtains in the drawing room of his London home, Kelmscott House, and later marketed it extensively.
