Austrian psychiatrist Sigmund Freud (1856 - 1939), the founding father of psychoanalysis, loved cats, as this wonderful quote testifies: 'Time spent with cats is never wasted.' The great quote is matched with an equally great painting by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Takahashi Shotei (1871-1944). Called 'Tama' (white cat), it features a serene and contented white and ginger cat with beautiful yellow eyes sporting a red and white patterned scarf round his throat.
