Vintage Tropical Banana Lumbar Pillow
This collection of items is created using an 1863 Berthe Hoola Van Nooten tropical banana print. It is said that Berthe created this artwork while stranded on the island of Java and studying its plants. The image shows a cluster of yellow hanging bananas (called a ‘hand’) surrounded by what appears to be small drawings of a bug, inside a fruit and some other botanical species. The scientific name for banana - Musa Paradisiaca L. appears across the bottom of the print.
