A vintage children's book illustration by Anne Anderson for the nursery rhyme "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary" which continues..."How does your garden grow? With silver bells, and cockle shells, and pretty maids all in a row." The Scottish-born artist, Anne Anderson (1874-1952), spent her childhood in Argentina, and moved to England as a young adult. She was known for her art nouveau children’s book illustrations. She also painted, etched and designed greeting cards and postcards.
