Jumbo the circus elephant was born in Sudan, East Africa, 1860. SOLD to P. T. Barnum in 1882 for $10,000 DIED 9/15/1885 Ontario, Canada, he was hit by a train during transport. Jumbo’s skeleton was donated to the American Museum of Natural History in New York city where it probably still remains.
