Vintage Fire Engine (by Eugène Burnand) Tile

This design features a painting by the Swiss artist Eugène Burnand (1850–1921). It shows a historical fire engine, which is made up of a wooden cart being pulled by a team of four horses. There are two riders controlling the four horses, and they are leading them furiously on, making them gallop towards the emergency. There is a large group of men and boys standing and sitting on the wooden cart: they are the firemen who will deal with the blaze when the arrive at the scene. The firemen have various tools with them that they will use in their profession. The horse and cart is racing through a rural countryside landscape. There are agricultural fields in the background, and the sky is filled with ominous grey clouds. There are also some black birds flying in the sky. The original artwork was painted by Eugène Burnand in 1879.
