Vintage Embroidered Challah Cover Kitchen Towel

This is a reproduction of my Great-grandmother's hand-embroidered challah cover. She did the needlework in Vienna, around 1900, as part of her trousseau. It has been used and loved for over a century, and needed some help so that my daughter would have it and be able to use it, and pass it on for another 100 years. I recently had it cleaned and restored. It came out so wonderfully, I had to share. The hebrew on the top is from Genesis: "It was evening and it was morning, the sixth day." The bottom is the VaYechulu prayer for Shabbat: "The heaven and earth were finished, and all their host..." This towel is a lovely way to cover your challah and add a warm vintage feeling to your Shabbat table. A charming gift for a new bride or a new home. My Bubbie would kvel.
