Held Up (1897) by NH Trotter is a vintage fine art American West painting. A herd of buffalo on the plains of the wild west on train tracks with a locomotive waiting for them to pass.
About the artist:
Newbold Hough Trotter (1827-1898) was mostly a self-taught artist, but also studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and The Hague in Holland. Trotter painted both animals and landscapes working directly from nature.
