A lonely golden field with a flock of crows flying either towards you or away - it is hard to tell. Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) was probably the most famous Post-Impressionist painter. Never enjoying a great level of success or recognition during his life, his posthumous stature has grown enormously, and he has arguably influenced almost every artist since.
