VINCENT VAN GOGH ...SUNFLOWERS Canvas Print
VINCENT VAN GOGH ...SUNFLOWERS Canvas Print ... Vincent van Gogh Sunflowers Painting (repetition of 4th version, yellow background, August 1889, less than one year before his death at age 37 by suicide ... he shot himself in the chest in a wheat field he had been painting ... dying 30 hours later) Faux Canvas Print ... Vincent Willem van Gogh (30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890) was an important Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who has become one of the most famous in the world of art. In his own life time he was considered a madman and a failure ... no one buying his paintings ... but, after his tragic death, became famous and appreciated as the typical tortured artist ... so that, now, his paintings are each worth many millions. According to his brother Theo, Vincent's last words were "The sadness will last forever". His Sunflowers series were begun in August 1888 in anticipation of his friend the famous painter Paul Gauguin visiting him at The Yellow House (in Arles, France) where he filled a room with his bright Sunflowers hoping Paul Gauguin would be impressed enough to stay there with him ... which Gauguin actually did. This gave van Gogh great hope and passion to paint even more. Gauguin's single painting there was of Vincent van Gogh "The Painter of Sunflowers" ... But, by December, their relationship began to deteriorate, van Gogh, desperately worried Gauguin was planning to leave him ended up cutting off part of his own left ear with a razor after Gauguin had left "for a walk" and did not return that night. Then, van Gogh wrapped up the ear and delivered it to a woman at a brothel the two men had frequented. Gauguin then left even as van Gogh was asking for him. By May 1889, Vincent van Gogh volunteered himself into an asylum where he continued to paint ... especially, further versions of his earlier works such as Sunflowers. By May 1890. Vincent van Gogh moved to the Paris suburb Auvers-sur-Oise to be closer to his brother Theo as well as to his doctor friend Dr. Paul Gachet. There, he painted Wheatfield with Crows and it is thought that it was in that field where he shot himself in his chest 27 July 1890. He died 29 July 1890. His signature and this canvas border are in cornflower blue ... a colour he associated with himself here. Note only one single sunflower in the group has cornflower blue on it ... that one represents him and his loneliness.
