About This Design

Vincent van Gogh - Sheaves of Wheat Tile

Vincent van Gogh - Sheaves of Wheat Tile

Sheaves of Wheat, painted in 1890 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise. Large sheaves stand across a harvested field in one of the broad rural scenes Van Gogh painted during his final weeks at Auvers. The long horizontal composition emphasizes repeated stacks, open ground and the sweep of the agricultural landscape. He returned constantly to wheat, harvest and field work throughout his career, and here the familiar theme is treated with the rapid, patterned brushwork of his late style.
