Vincent Van Gogh Art - The Mulberry Tree This wonderful vintage Van Gogh print is called "the Mulberry Tree" painted by the famous post-impressionsit Vincent Van Gogh in 1889. Van Gogh's paintings were marked by their vibrance, use of wonderfully new colour, and the artist's line work. Van Gogh painted The Mulberry Tree when he was in the Saint Paul Asylum in Saint-Remy. In The Mulberry Tree, there is a craggy tree in the centre of the painting, growing from rocky terrain, with beautiful swirling tree branches, and a swirling blue sky, against a swirling tan landscape of rocks and light tan grasses. Van Gogh wrote about the Mulberry tree to his brother while he was painting at the Asylum, a time when he was happy. "I’ll tell you that we’re having some superb autumn days, and that I’m taking advantage of them.” The Mulberry Tree is actually a tree that Van Gogh saw from the Asylum's garden. It fairly glows with vibrance and quick brushstrokes in the centre of the painting.
