Vienna, Austria, Panorama from the Kahlenberg Poster

Vienna, Austria, Panorama from the Kahlenberg Poster

"Vienna, Austria, Panorama from the Kahlenberg" by Catherine Sherman. The Danube River, the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel and St. Stephen's Cathedral are among the landmarks visible from the Kahlenberg, the most famous vantage point of Vienna, Austria. The Kahlenberg is a 1,588-foot-high (484 metres) mountain in the 19th district of Vienna (Döbling). In the foreground are the rolling green vineyards of Nussdorf, providing a contrast with the panorama of the sprawling cityscape.. During the second Turkish siege in 1683, the city was liberated by the relief army from the Kahlenberg, a fact commemorated by St. Joseph's Church, which is situated on the mountaintop. The Second Turkish Siege of Vienna or Second Ottoman Siege of Vienna in 1683 was – like the first in 1529 – an unsuccessful attempt by the Ottoman Empire to take Vienna . It lasted from July 14 to September 12, when a relief army commanded by Poland 's King John III Sobieski forced the Ottoman army of Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa Pasha to retreat in the Battle of Kahlenberg. Under the city commander Ernst Rüdiger von Starhemberg, Vienna, then the residence of the Holy Roman Emperor, was defended for two months against a siege army of around 120,000 men. To relieve the city, troops from the Holy Roman Empire allied themselves for the first time with those from Poland-Lithuania . The Republic of Venice and the Papal States provided further support.

My Bible verse postcard, turned out excellent. I love it and have it already framed. It was so reasonably priced for something done so well. Thank you to Zazzle and the artist! I thought it looked exactly like what I ordered. Perfect.

Poster is printed clearly, good quality . Inclusive of many prints . The shipping was the problem. Box was flimsy and item got bent.. only suggestion would have been to put in a canister or mark fragile. Printing was exactly as shown
