This design is from one of a pair of bird tiles in our personal collection and one of the most popular of our offerings. (The mate is listed separately.)
Transferware tiles were popular because they were decorative and far more affordable than labour-intensive hand painted tiles. The technique originated in mid-18th century England and were a favourite during the Victorian era and beyond.
