The oiran were courtesans who wore ornate costumes and served as entertainers performing music and tea ceremonies. Van Gogh’s Oiran wears a fancy black, green and red kimono with her hair done up with intricate blue pins. The woman is surrounded by an ornate nature border featuring water reeds, lily pads, frogs, and cranes. A beautiful gift for fans of Vincent Van Gogh, Japonism, and French art.
