A memorial to the men from Upshur County who died in World War I, World War II and the Korean War stands in from the Upshur County Courthouse in Gilmer, Texas. It also honours the men and women of the county who served in the armed forces. Built in 1933, this is the fifth courthouse building in Upshur County. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. The first of the five Upshur county courthouse buildings was established in 1846. The county seat is the city of Gilmer, which is in northeast Texas. The courthouse is brick and designed in a modern style
