The ecclectic architecture of the forts bears testimony to the power of the Rajput princely states that flourished in the region from the 8th to the 18th centuries. Kumbhalgarh is a Mewar fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills, in the Rajsamand district near Udaipur of Rajasthan state. The Fort was built during the course of the 15th century by Rana Kumbha. The fort is among the largest fort complexes in the world, and the second largest fort in India after Chittor Fort.
