This is a landscape of warehouses and rivers in the historic streets of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. This is one of a trilogy, depicting a crescent moon in an evening scene. Artist :川瀬巴水 (Kawase Hasui / かわせ はすい) Kawase Hasui (May 18, 1883 - November 7, 1957) was a woodblock print artist active during the Taisho and Showa periods. He established the world of new prints in an attempt to revive the declining Japanese ukiyoe prints. His works were highly acclaimed overseas, and he has been called the "Hiroshige of the Showa period.
