Title：芝弁天池（shiba benten ike / しば べんてん いけ / Bentenike Pond, Shiba) Bentenike Pond is a pond adjacent to 宝珠院 (Hoshuin Temple), located behind 増上寺 (Zōjōji Temple) in Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo. No other pond of this size exists today. Artist :川瀬巴水 (Kawase Hasui / かわせ はすい) Kawase Hasui (May 18, 1883 - November 7, 1957) was a woodblock print artist active during the Taisho and Showa periods. He established the world of new prints in an attempt to revive the declining Japanese ukiyoe prints. His works were highly acclaimed overseas, and he has been called the "Hiroshige of the Showa period.
