Tumacacori Doorway

Step back into time as you walk through this doorway into the granary at Tumacacori Mission in southern Arizona. Roofless, the doorway shows us a blue sky overhead,streaked with a few light clouds. The walls are made of a light brown biscuit-coloured adobe. The shadow from the right-hand wall spreads across the lower portion of the doorway, which looks out onto a hard packed earth open area. A strip of blue sky shows at the top of the doorway, and trees from across the yard are sandwiched between sky and tan, earthy yard. This is a very quiet, peaceful place which you shouldn't miss if you visit the Tucson area. Copyright Gail Storrs 2007.
