My husband and I visited Tulum, a Mayan site located on the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, on December 21, 2012, which coincided with the day the Mayan calendar ended and according to many, meant the end of the world! We happened to be there celebrating a milestone birthday for me. No end of the world vibes, just a number of accessible ruins, lots of sun, and beautiful views of the Caribbean!
